Village Postmarks

General

Below are all noted Mauritius villages that had post offices which also cancelled letters, cards, and other mail up to 1968. Each village has a PDF file available for download. These files include most of the postmarks I know of.

Time Codes

The time codes mentioned in the files for CDSs are generally 'No' for no time code, and 'A' to 'D', with 'A' used in the morning and 'D' in the afternoon. A '?' means that I do not have any information about that postmark. Numerals were also used, especially at the larger offices. If a canceller was used during several periods and/or with colors other than black, the time codes apply to all periods and colors. Some offices seem to have used the same time code the entire time, while some offices used no time code at all.
