The post office was opened at the railway station (North Line), with the station master acting as deputy postmaster, £12p.a. plus two and a half per cent on stamp sales. The furniture was transferred from Piton in April 1869. The office building was damaged in the 1959 cyclone. The office was again damaged by cyclone Jenny in February 1962. The post office was still opened 1968.
