Post office opened 1847.
Before 1 July 1847 the office acted as a receiving house. On 7 December 1865 it
moved from the railway station owing to staffing problems. On 28 November 1870 moved back to the railway station. Handled Express letters from 1 July 1903. The office was
damaged by cyclone Jenny in February 1962.The post office was still opened 1968.
